Communications challenges

Early this morning, the temperature was a crisp - 47 C. The first skiing leg of the day turned out to be very tough going: after struggling with the sledges for one and a half hours, we had advanced a total distance of 1.6 km.

After lunch, however, the terrain became more friendly to us. At one stage in the afternoon, we even managed to ski for a whole hour without once removing our skis. This is a new record for the Expedition. Hopefully, we will find more of the same easy territory on days to come; preferably easier still.

We've been experiencing some problems with our E-mail communications: our satellite uplink sometimes cuts off prematurely, so we've not always been able to send all the messages we'd like to.

For this same reason, the present diary entry appeared on the website later in the day than had previous entries. Our Support Team was inundated with worried messages. But don't panic, dear readers: problematic communications are an integral part of Arctic wandering! Thank you all for your concern.

All is well with the Expedition.
